ABOUT ME
I’m Katherine Shapiro, a movement educator with over 18 years of experience teaching yoga, Pilates, and dance in New York City and the Hamptons.
I was born in Boston and raised in the U.S., France, Belgium, and Denmark. My multicultural upbringing and extensive travels helped shape my belief in the deep connection we all share. That understanding inspires both how I live and how I teach.
My path began with dance and Pilates and deepened through yoga, meditation, and spiritual study. I teach from a place of mindfulness and compassion, blending movement with meaning—especially important in today’s often chaotic world.
In my classes, I offer a personalized, inclusive approach. Whether you’re seeking restorative yoga, gentle movement, or a more active practice, I guide each student with care, creativity, and intelligent sequencing. My goal is to help you feel strong, balanced, and present.
I hold a BFA in Dance from SUNY Purchase and am registered with Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500 and YACEP (Continuing Education Provider). I continue to study and expand my practice through ongoing training in yoga, Pilates, and other movement disciplines.
